Gusto

During this spring break, we’re heading to a coffee farm, Finca Alta Gracia, in the Dominican Republic. This farm is a sustainability/literacy project run by Julia Alvarez,a professor at Middlebury and the author of books such as How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents, and In the Time of Butterflies. During our week there, we’ll be learning the ins and outs of coffee production, observing and participating as much as we possibly can. The farm also runs an english school for the employees and their children, and we’ll be involved in tutoring the children and leading recreational activities too! We’re very excited for the trip, and to do our part for the community.
